What's New This Season at Crystal Mountain
This fall 2012, Crystal Mountain has added a twelve inch diameter, 600 foot long snowmaking header pipe which runs from the bottom of the Buck ski run almost to the Crystal Clipper lift tower line.
This new pipeline will significantly reduce water friction losses, especially at full snowmaking flows which can reach up to 6000 gallons per minute. It will also allow Crystal Mountain to be more productive during colder snowmaking temperatures when the snow guns are operating at maximum efficiency.
Opened last winter 2011-12, a new quad chairlift increased uphill capacity and skiable terrain on Loki and Thor and services the nine adjoining slopes.
We’ve also recontoured the upper elevation of Loki & Thor slopes; and added tower-mounted snowguns and related infrastructure to increase snowmaking capacity for this portion of the ski area.
