Experience some of the best cross-country skiing New York State has to offer! Set on 6,000 acres deep in the Catskill Mountains, Frost Valley YMCA offers great skiing for all ages and abilities. Whether it's the miles of beautiful back-country trails, or skiing beside pristine streams, there's something for everyone!

We offer more than 25 kilometers of trails, including: groomed trails, track set, trails for all abilities. We also have back-country trails available.

Trails are open Saturdays, Sundays and holidays (except Christmas) from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Groups of 10 or more must call to reserve skis and times. Small group instruction available. Equipment includes waxless skis with step-in bindings. After skiing, enjoy hearty meals in the Frost Valley dining hall.

Frost Valley also offers a wide variety of outdoor winter activities for the whole family, including snow tubing, snowshoeing, broomball and more.

Located in the high peaks of New York’s Catskill Mountains, Frost Valley YMCA is set amidst 6,000 acres of wooded trails, open fields and pristine rivers. The Forstmann Conference Center is available to a wide assortment of groups: Scouts, quilters, yoga enthusiasts, religious organizations and many others enjoy the special benefits provided by Frost Valley. Summer camp and environmental education are also renowned programs.

Families seeking a peaceful mountain escape are among our most loyal customers. Many of our families return year after year, generation after generation creating life-long memories in our midst. Frost Valley is also a great place for reunions — large and small. Visitors have the choice of simply spending a quiet weekend in the mountains or they may participate in our extensive programs, including: hiking, archery, climbing, arts and crafts, fly-fishing, canoeing, winter sports and many other activities.

Improvements This Season

Opened in April 2007, Lakeview Lodge blends modern technology with a comfortable atmosphere. The lodge features 24 rooms and two suites and is also ideal for families who are seeking modern accommodations and amenities.

Newly renovated in 2006, Geyer Hall is the perfect venue for meeting and conferencing needs, complete with state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment and breakout rooms. This facility is WiFi ready. Groups can run their own program, or Frost Valley’s staff can tailor a team building or recreational program for your group.

A number of new cabins were also constructed in 2007 and a Wellness Center is underway with a 2008 opening scheduled.

Dining

Dining is included at Frost Valley for overnight guests. Day visitors may also purchase meals at the Frost Valley Dining Hall. Nearby, there's fine dining at Peekamoose restaurant. The hamlet of Pine Hill offers several restaurant options, as does Phoenicia, both communities are located just off Route 28.

Bars and Nightlife

Nightlife at Frost Valley includes a variety of family-oriented events. Experience night hikes, visit the observatory for some star gazing or enjoy the many program options presented by the staff. Off the mountain, many local communities offer live music in a restaurant or club setting. There are also a number of regional theater groups that present year-round entertainment.

When families and groups choose to visit Frost Valley, they are presented with many lodging options. The choices include: family-style, dormitory style, super lodges, mote-style, cabins and the quaint Fly Fishing Cottage, an ideal family retreat for up to eight guests.

Other Recreation Nearby

Belleayre Mountain Ski Center is located 17 miles from Frost Valley and Plattekill Mountain in Roxbury is 30 miles away. Both offer fine downhill skiing and snowboarding opportunities.
