Snow Tubing at Garmisch-Classic / Zugspitze
The start of this year’s winter season on the Zugspitzplatt is great news not only for skiing
and snowboarding fans, but also for sledging enthusiasts too.
That’s because there is a slope specially set aside for tobogganing
between the two “Schneefernerkopf” and “Gletschersee” lifts. But
rules are rules, however: tubes (e.g. tyres, etc.) are not allowed.
And anyone coming with a “bob skeleton” to Germany’s highest
mountain or who hires one from the ski hire outlet in the basement
of the SonnAlpin glacier restaurant for E 5,50 will also be
carried up the mountainside on the Schneefernerkopf tow lift –
providing that the user and his or her bob skeleton are joined to
each other by a binding strap. All other tobogganing enthusiasts can take their sledges and
climb up the slope as often as they want on foot only to whizz
down the mountain again on a thrilling toboggan ride.
