Cross Country Sports is the oldest xc ski shop in the mid-west (2nd oldest I know of in North America). Founded by Len "Mr. Ski" Oikarinen in 1962, his son Rick took over in 1978 and continues today. Located in the heart of the mid-west snowbelt has certainly been a blessing in the "no snow years" elsewhere as our lowest snowfall total in the last 45 years has been 131 inches. Our average is 230"! Come on up for great classic and skating trails 1 mile from our Calumet store--the Swedetown Trails or 1 mile from our Houghton store the MTU Trails. The MTU trails will be hosting The U.S. Nationals in early January, 2008. We stock all the major brands including Atomic, Fischer, Rossignol, Madshus, Karhu, Salomon, Alpina and more.
