There were these ski boots with a liner that had to be heated with a special machine, to conform to the foot. They could then be reheated to make adjustments. I was there, and someone came in with their boots, and the owner of the store told them that he couldn't reheat them, because the heating unit was broken. A few minutes later some people came in and he tried to sell them the same kind of boots, telling them that he could heat the liners up to make them fit properly. I was there trying on boots while the whole thing happened.

Who was he lying to, the new customer or the old one who needed service?
