| What began in 1985 as Industrias Savidai S.L by seven families in Etxalar, Spain (a village located in the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees) is today, Lorpen, the innovative technical sock brand.
In 1985, Lorpen initially manufactured sport socks for large international footwear brands such as Reebok and Adidas, and they were sold in major department stores in Spain and France. However, as the marketplace evolved and countries such as China and Turkey started making socks for the mass consumer, Lorpen did thier own evolution.
In 1997, Lorpen sent their designers and technicians to Barcelona to further understand the possibilities of state-of-the-art knitting machines and develop new knitting techniques. With this information, Lorpen decided to redirect its footwear focus and launch its own technical sock brand named Lorpen (meaning “achievement” in Basque).
The results quickly became a tremendous success in Europe, as the company became a pioneer in sock and knitting technologies. In 2001, Lorpen started distributing socks in Canada through their Lorpen North America office based in Toronto and in 2004 emerged into the U.S. market.
In 2007, the company opened a manufacturing facility in Puebla, Mexico that follows the same strict quality standards as in the Spanish factory (ISO-9001). This facility has allowed Lorpen to apply the successful technical features of Lorpen products with the specific design preferences of North American consumers.
Today, Lorpen socks are sold in more than 55 countries throughout the World. Hundreds of reputable distributors of outdoor and wintersport products carry the Lorpen brand.
The seven founding families are still closely involved with the daily activities of the Lorpen company in Spain. They all share a true passion for nature and the outdoors that originally led them to establish the Lorpen brand.
