About Wasatch Powderbird Guides

We operate under an exclusive US Forest Service Special Use Perrmit in Utah's famous Wasatch Range home of the 'Greatest Snow on Earth'. With mountain elevations between 7,000 and 11,400 feet the conditions are perfect for helicopter operations. Foreign based operations are selected to replicate the ideal conditions for quality helicopter skiing.

Wasatch Powderbird Guides has provided helicopter skiing services on the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest of Utah since1973. We specialize in small groups, guided by experienced guides, in the finest powder snow and terrain. We offer daily, multi-day, and weekly programs as well as Private and Charter opportunities for individuals or groups. Powderbird International, our sister company, offers programs in Utah, Alaska, Greenland, and South America.

Guide Certifications & Experience

Wasatch Powderbird Guides operate under U.S. Heli-Ski certification and American Avalanche Association certification. Guides hold current Outdoor Emergency Care and CPR certification.

Wasatch Powderbird Guides operates several types of medium size helicopters such as Astar B-3's and Bell 407's.

Wasatch Powderbird Guides is located on the Plaza Level at canyons Resort in Park City and in Little Cottonwood Canyon, adjacent to the Alta and Snowbird Ski Resorts. Both locations are 35 miles from Salt Lake City, UT .

Booking Policy

Advanced reservations are highly recommended and require a $300 deposit. Although many dates sell out quickly any available seats can be purchased up until the evening before flight.

Training & Instruction

Although our guides focus on snow and terrain safety during the day there is often a little time for coaching and technique development. We also offer Avalanche Awareness Classes and avalanche beacon training for interested guests.

Packages & Pricing

Individual skiers can expect to spend between $1190 and $1330 for a 7 flight ski day depending on the time of year. Private and Charter guests can expect to spend $6,600 and up for a day of skiing for 1 to 8 participants. Exact pricing as well as foriegn trip rates can be obtained by contacting our office.
