About Soldier Mountain Snowcats

Our trips are run in a completely backcountry environment above and beyond the ski area. Skiers and snowboarders can enjoy intermediate to expert terrain in open bowls, gladed trees and steep chutes. The trip is run by a an AMGA Certified Ski Mountaineering Guide with 20 years of experience. Soup and sandwiches are served for lunch in our yurt, kept warm by a wood burning stove. Everyone can expect to ski at least 12,000 vertical feet of natural terrain and some of our more fit groups have skied over 22,000 feet in one day! One of the areas we ski requires a short hike along a high alpine ridge (200 yards, 100 vertical feet) to a beautuful 2500 ' continuous slope.

Our operatin is simple & friiendly with many returning guests. Skiers are transported from the base lodge at 8:30 AM to our Yurt where they receive information and avalanche transceiver training. We supply all equipment necessary other than personal ski equipment. All participants are required to ski with a small light pack containing, shovel & probe.
