About Alaska Backcountry Adventures

Alaska Backcountry Adventures is located on world famous Thompson Pass, known for the most dramatic mountaions in Alaska. Our terrain includes something for everyone, from long mellow powder to movie quality massive face desents. Your group will warm up with your guide as you explore more and more exciting terrain. Alaska Backcountry Adventures is the origonal helicopter ski operation in Alaska and it's location was chosen for it's proximity to the best skiing in the state. Guide Certifications & Experience

Our guides are the most experineced in the range, many have guided on Thompson Pass since skiing here began. Our guides are EMT or WFR certified and level two or three avalanche certified. You will learn from your guides as you explore the Chugach Range. Your guides will be confident, skilled and fun. If they are not fun to ski with they must guide for someone else.

Equipment Used

You will be flown in A-star helicopters. The A-star is the industry standard for safety and reliability when flying in the pinnicle strewn Chugach Range.

Booking Policy

Bookings are confirmed with fifty percent deposit. The reminder is not due until sixty days prior to your travel. We offer the lowest cost helicopter skiing anywhere due to our location in the center of the Chugach Range surrounded by the best runs

Training & Instruction

You will be trained in glacier travel, avalanche safety, avalanche rescue, and helicopetr safety. Everybody will have a the opportunity to locate a avalanche rescue transiever. Your guides will teach you run by run how to find comfort in the large mountains of the Chugach Range as you explore throughout the beautiful area around Alaska Backcountry Adventures.

Packages & Pricing

Our packages are flexible and affordable. We can create a package to fit your desires and budget. Our most popular package is seven days and includes lodging and your first five days of skiing for just $3303.00 USD based on double occupancy. We offer Motorhomne packages as well which allow you to lodge right at the heli base for relaxing mornings and gorgeous northern lights displays throughout the night. Our location, known for great weather patterns, is also as close as you can get to the best skiing in Alaska which is why we can offer you better terrain and longer runs for less money. Local Lodging

We offer packages in two distict styles either in hotels or private motorhomes. Motorhomes offer a sence of independance and freedom whicle some are inclined to the lap of luxery in upgraded hotel suites. Many of our clients book skiing only and choose to camp out with us on Thompson Pass in a snowcave demonstrating the priorities of our great and soulful clientelle.

World Class recreation includes Ice Climbing, Snow Machines, Sea Kayaking, Fishing for Salmon, Glacier Exploration, Snowcat Skiing, Backcountry Skiing, Thompson Pass road runs, as well as sightseeing at the fishing harbor on Prince William Sound, the pipeline terminus, and historic Valdez.
