About Chugach Powder Guides
OUR TERRAIN Chugach Powder Guides holds the only special use permit to conduct helicopter skiing operations in a large expanse of the Western Chugach Mountains. This area extends from Girdwood east toward Prince William Sound and south onto the Kenai Peninsula. With no pressure from other operators, it is nearly impossible to exhaust all the powder between snowfalls. We ski from sea level to approximately 6,500 feet (1,981 m) of elevation. Timberline is at approximately 2,200 feet (670 m), offering up to 2,000 feet (609 m) of tree skiing when conditions permit. CONDITIONS Chugach Powder Guides was founded in 1997. CPG's headquarters are located near the base of Alyeska Resort in the small town of Girdwood, Alaska. Nestled in the Western Chugach Mountain Range the surrounding area offers access to the some of the best heli skiing in the world. Short helicopter flights place skiers on top of big Alaskan faces with views of Turnagain Arm in one direction and Prince William Sound in the other. On days the helicopter can’t fly, Resort lift accessible skiing and Snowcat skiing keep visitors on powder. These options provide excellent terrain for all ability levels. Après ski in one of the hotel restaurants or the top of the tram. If you are looking for the ultimate family or group heli-ski adventure, this is the place to go.
