The International Free Skiers Association was established in 1996 by freeskiing pioneer Shane McConkey. This year, IFSA has created the 2013 Junior Big Mountain Freeskiing and Snowboarding system. The two tier system comprised of regional events, national events, and one rotating North American Championship relies on the IFSA for sanctioning, insurance, protocol, and direction. Crested Butte Mountain Resort will host a Regional Event January 25 – 27 and the National Championships March 7 – 10, where 75-100 junior competitors from predominantly Colorado will compete in the famed Extreme Limits terrain.
