About Whiteface Mountain
Host of the 1980 Olympic Ski events; site of 2000 Winter Goodwill Games; site of annual World Cup events in freestyle skiing and / or snowboarding. Greatest vertical drop east of the Rockies. Whiteface opened new terrain - Lookout Mt - in Dec 2008 with triple chair, 2 trails, snowmaking and some added glades. Lake Placid has been the top destination for off-hill activities 16 consecutive years, according to the readers of SKI Magazine.

Always a Pleasure
Ski conditions are good. But bundle up for Whiteface and bring the toe and hand warmers because unless it is in the 40's it will be cold. Plenty of places to eat, drink and be merry. It is great for families and singles!...More |

Slides were open
Went up to Whiteface Saturday 1-11-13. The mountain looked to be fully open. Lots of hard packed powder but, also some trails were very icy depending on which side of the mountain you were on. Received word that the Slides...More |

Fantastic, worth the drive.
Made our first trip to Whiteface last year and fell in love with the mountain, Planning to visit again this January. If you cannot make it west, Whiteface is is the next best thing.
