About this Club

The Fagowees (Fuh-GOW-eez) ski club was established in 1966 with the intent of offering ski trips and year round activities for its members at low cost, group rates but with a high level of quality and fun.

Over the years, other branches were created across the US. Currently we have branches in Cleveland, Denver, and Sacramento. Each club is a little different, but we try to all gather annually for a week long trip to enjoy an area and wherever life takes us.

Our reputation is that we are a little wild. We certainly strive to enjoy ourselves when we are together. And, while we call ourselves a ski club we do plan activities year round, in fact some of our summer events are larger than our ski trips.

Individual members must be at least 21, as alcohol is allowed at most events. Family memberships are good for couples and may include any minor dependants (under adult supervision).

We are a fun loving bunch of Skiers and boarders that do much more than Ski. We plan float trips, white water rafting, campouts, motorcycle rides and even go on cruises!

Area Served

We serve the greater Washington, DC metropolitan area (i.e. Washington, DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia); Roanoke, VA; Virginia Beach, VA; along with memberships from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Florida, and Texas. Additional Fagowees International branches are located in Cleveland, OH, Denver, CO, and Sacramento, CA. We often have people from all over the country meet us on our trips.

Meetings

We meet the first Tuesday of each month at Houlihan's Restaurant in Springfield, VA (in the Hilton across the street from the Springfield Mall). Meetings begin at 7:30, but many club members arrive early and have dinner together. Meeting dates change occasionally, so check our website (www.dcfagowees.com) for changes. Visitors are always welcome, so please come by and say hello!

Memberships

Individual membership: $30 new member, $25 annual renewal.
Family membership: $40 new membership, $35 annual renewal.
Lifetime memberships: $400/individual, $500/families. Membership year is June – May. New membership dues include an engraved name tag. Individual members must be at least 21, as alcohol is allowed at most events. Family memberships are good for couples and may include any minor dependants (under adult supervision).

Trips & Events

Weekend ski trips, racing, week-long ski trips to various US, Canadian, and European ski resorts, ski swaps, Mardi Gras parade/celebrations, float trips, white water rafting, picnics, parties, kayaking, theatre, comedy clubs, bars of the month, chili cook-offs, beach trips, cruises, bicycling, amusement park trips, motorcycle rallies, scuba, etc. In a nutshell, if there’s enough interest in an activity, we’ll organize an event.
