About this Club

The Nisei Ski Club is a non-profit organization founded in the late 1950's by a group of Japanese American Nisei (second generation) skiers interested in promoting the sport of skiing, friendship and fun within the community. The current membership consists of Japanese Americans (Nisei, Sansei, Yonsei) as well as other Asians and Non-Asians.

Our membership annually consists of over 350 members. While the majority of our members reside in the greater Bay Area, we also have members as far south as Southern California and as far north as Sacramento.

During the winter months, Nisei Ski Club (NSC) concentrates on skiing. The club organizes several weekend (2 day) bus trips to various resorts in the Lake Tahoe region. Each year, we organize a week long ski trip. Past trips have been to resorts such as Jackson Hole-Wyoming, Whistler/ Blackcomb-British Columbia, Utah, Aspen-Colorado, Telluride- Colorado, Vail-Colorado, Sun Valley, and Lake Louise. We also plan long weekend ski trips. Past excursions have been to Mount Bachelor-Oregon, Mammoth Mountain and Park City- Utah by plane, bus, and rail. We also host a number of ski related activities such as outings to Warren Miller film nights and club nights at local ski shops.

During the summer months, NSC sponsors a variety of summer activities such as bike rides, dances, picnics, beach parties, bowling events to name just a few. Some of our events in the past year include hiking, kayaking, bocce ball, Italian Dinner, and luau.
